SELECT COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AND THE PUBLIC SERVICE debate -
Wednesday, 8 Nov 2000

Vol. 3 No. 7

Message to the Dáil.

In accordance with Standing Order 79B, the following message will be sent to the Dáil:

The Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service has completed its consideration of the National Pensions Reserve Fund Bill, 2000, and has made amendments thereto.

That concludes our business. I thank the Minister and his officials for their attendance.

I thank the Chairman, the clerk and particularly the Opposition spokespersons for facilitating me by continuing with our consideration of the Bill late into the night, something I would not normally ask them to do. Given the various constraints which operate, there appears to be great difficulty getting legislation to Committee Stage. My schedule is very busy with the impending budget and I appreciate their co-operation.

I thank the Minister and his officials.

I would like to be associated with that. I particularly thank the staff for staying on so late.

As we have completed our consideration of the Bill, the meeting scheduled for 11.45 a.m. tomorrow has been cancelled.

The committee adjourned at 10.45 p.m. sine die.
