Health and Social Care Professionals (Amendment) Bill 2018: Committee Stage

I thank the Minister of State at the Department of Health, Deputy Catherine Byrne, for attending. The meeting has been convened to consider the Health and Social Care Professionals (Amendment) Bill 2018, the purpose of which is to amend the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 to provide for the recognition of certain professional qualifications as approved qualifications within the meaning of section 30 of the Act. I ask the Minister of State to make her introductory comments.

I thank the Chairman and committee members. This is a short technical Bill. As the Chairman said, its purpose is to amend the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 to provide that any non-Irish health professional qualification which has been recognised either by the Minister or the bodies acting on behalf of the State will not have to be re-recognised for the purposes of registration under the Act.

This is wonderful legislation, to which there are no amendments. I congratulate the Minister of State on its drafting.

It is a short Bill.

Sections 1 to 5, inclusive, agreed to.
Title agreed to.
Bill reported without amendment.

I thank the Minister of State for attending and for giving of her time.

I thank the Chairman.
