SELECT COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND CHILDREN debate -
Thursday, 5 Nov 1998

Vol. 1 No. 4

Report of Select Committee.

In accordance with Standing Order 79B I propose the following draft report:

The Select Committee on Health and Children has considered the Voluntary Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 1998 and has made an amendment thereto.

Is the report agreed?

Report agreed to.

Ordered to report to the Dáil accordingly.

Will the Chairman advise when the Children Bill will be before the committee? It had been referred to the committee in 1997.

I spoke to the clerk to the committee this morning in that regard and we will make contact with the Minister's office.

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform?

The Taoiseach stated in the Dáil this week that it was a matter for this committee.

Yes. Apparently, Second Stage was debated before the election——

Nineteen months ago.

——and had to be reintroduced.

It was reintroduced in the Dáil and referred to this committee in 1997, after the election.

The matter will be raised with the Minister and I will report to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Thank you.

The Select Committee adjourned at 10.10 a.m. sine die.
