SECTION 42 (Resumed).

Debate resumed on amendment No. 29:
In page 28, line 12, after "exhibited" to insert "or kept".
—(Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht.)

This amendment is related to the definition of a cultural object. At the moment this definition includes, as well as museum heritage objects and library material, any object obtained considered appropriate to be exhibited by a relevant institution. While I feel this should cover all relevant objects, there might be some objects which I have not anticipated which would never be appropriate for exhibition but could be collected, borrowed or held for other purposes, for example, research. This amendment will widen the definition to include objects considered appropriate to be exhibited or kept by a relevant institution.
