Select Committee Town Planning Bill, 1929 debate -
Thursday, 28 Nov 1929

SECTION 4 (2).

. . . . . . .
Provided that any regulations with respect to the qualifications and conditions of employment of architects or engineers to be employed in the preparation of a Civic Survey and the preparation and execution of a town planning scheme, shall be made after joint consultation with the President of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and the President of the Institution of Civil Engineers of Ireland.

Colonel Moore

On behalf of Senator Lenihan I move amendment 24, section 4, sub-section (2). To delete lines 63 and 64 on page 6 and lines 1 to 5 inclusive on page 7.

I am strongly against the deletion of that provision.

I am prepared to leave this entirely to the Committee.

The effect of the amendment would be to prevent consultation with these learned bodies.

Colonel Moore

I am just moving the amendment for the Senator, but I do not know why he objects to this provision.

He seems to want to get in a sort of handy men instead of qualified people.

Amendment put and declared lost.
Section 4 agreed to.
