Election of Chairman

Cléireach an Choiste

The first item on the agenda is the election of the Chairman.

Mr. Lynch

I move that Deputy Kyne take the Chair.

Motion agreed to.
Deputy Kyne accordingly took the Chair.

I have received an apology for non-attendance from Deputy Childers. In connection with the admission of the Press, a special motion, it is not necessary if we do not intend to admit the Press, so that a public report could be made. There will be an official report given. What do the Committee think we should do?

It was unanimously agreed that the Press should not be present.

On procedure generally, are any Deputies anxious to put forward procedure which we should adopt, or do we just follow the normal procedure as at formal meetings of this type?

It was agreed to follow the normal procedure.

I am informed that the amendments at present received will be re-tabled, if the members so wish, by the Clerk.

Minister for Industry and Commerce

I think all the amendments are in from the different Parties. They will have to be re-submitted in the names of those who are members of this Committee. Regarding the latest date for receiving amendments, I am in the hands of the Committee.

I propose Tuesday, January 11th as the closing date, and that the Committee will meet on Thursday, 27th January at 2 p.m.

The Committee adjourned at 4.55 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, 27th January, 1955.
