Special Committee on the Finance Bill, 1992 debate -
Monday, 11 May 1992

SECTION 24.

Chairman

Amendment No. 43, 45 and 46 are related and may be discussed together.

I move amendment No. 43:

In page 39, line 30, after "structure" where it firstly occurs, to insert "in circumstances where no contract exists requiring the person to incur such expenditure".

This is a very short version of Deputy Quinn's amendment, a transitional arrangement to protect those who are committed to spending money.

I will look at that before Report Stage.

Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.

In regard to the extension of tax deductions from payment to sub-contractors, I propose to table an amendment on Report Stage to section 27 making certain adjustments to the extension of tax the deduction system to the meat processing area. I also want to give notice of a possible technical amendment on Report Stage to section 35.

Chairman

As it is now 8.30 I am required to put the following question in accordance with an order of the Dáil on 6 May: "That the amendments set down by the Minister for Finance to Chapter II of Part I of the Bill and not disposed of are hereby made to the Bill and in respect of each of the sections undisposed of in the said Chapter, other than sections 28, 31 and 35, that the section or, as appropriate, the section as amended is hereby agreed to."
