Amendment No. 109 in the name of Deputy Ferris is out of order as it is in the nature of substantive amendment of the statute law.
SECTION 862.
I move amendment No. 110:
In page 1167, lines 32 and 33, to delete "Secretary" and substitute "Secretary-General".
This amendment proposes to change the reference to Secretary in section 862 to Secretary-General. This is being done to conform with the recently enacted Public Service Management Act, 1997, which changed the title of Government Heads of Department from Secretary to Secretary-General. Deputy Ferris had tabled a similar amendment. His amendment, however, also proposed to change the references in section 862 of the Bill from Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary to Deputy Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General respectively. We cannot do this as the Public Service Management Act, 1997, only changed the title of Secretary. It did not change the title of Deputy Secretary or Assistant Secretary grades.
Amendment No. 111 in the name of Deputy Ferris is out of order as it is in the nature of substantive amendment of the statute law.
Amendment No. 112 in the name of Deputy Ferris is out of order as it is in the nature of substantive amendment of the statute law.
