729 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the lack of services in the mid-west area for persons with diabetes, particularly for children; when a podiatrist will be appointed to the Mid-Western Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of services for persons with diabetes and for recruitment issues arising rests, in this instance, with the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to examine the matters raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
