174 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the reason for the delay in the publication of the promised consultation paper on proposed changes in the charities legislation which he told Dáil Éireann on 25 June 2003 he expected would be published during the summer of 2003; if he has brought proposals to Government on this issue; when the report will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In response to a similar question in November 2003, I assured the House that the proposed consultation paper would be submitted to Government very shortly.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the Government approved the consultation paper on 16 December 2003, and it was posted on my Department's website —www.pobail.ie— the following day.
