View answerThe Cork area strategic plan and the strategic rail review supported the case for upgrading commuter rail services in the Cork area. A feasibility study conducted by Iarnród Éireann showed a positive economic return for the proposed rail developments. I expect to receive specific proposals from Irish Rail on the development of the Blarney to Midleton line. The proposals will include a full cost benefit analysis, arrangements for financing the project and specific plans as to how the project can be delivered.
