An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to by the Deputy was received in the citizenship section of my Department on 30 October 2002.

The average processing time for applications for naturalisation is 15 to 18 months at the present time. I understand that processing of the application of the person concerned is almost finalised. I am informed that officials in the citizenship section sought additional documentation from the solicitors representing the person concerned and they are currently awaiting these documents. Once this documentation is to hand we can progress the application to decision stage. I will inform the Deputy and the person concerned as soon as I have reached a decision on the application.
