104 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his Department has received any request for diplomatic immunity for US personnel who may visit here as part of the entourage of President George Bush during the planned EU-US summit; if any such request has been for security personnel; the terms of the immunity sought; and if the Government intends to provide it. I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 104 together.

The security of visiting Heads of State is the responsibility of the Garda Síochána and it would not be appropriate for me to comment on operational security issues. I can confirm that no such requests have been received or are expected to be made for immunity.
