165 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of persons recorded as missing over the past five years; the number subsequently found; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12914/04]
View answerI am informed by the Garda authorities that the number of persons recorded as missing for the years 1998 to 2002 inclusive is 10,081 and that the number of people subsequently found is 9,990. All files on missing persons remain open and under continuous review until the person is located, or, in the case of a missing person who is presumed drowned, a verdict to that effect by the coroner.
