100 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance the estimated cost of the election process in Dublin city and county with regard to the forthcoming local and European Parliament elections and referendum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13039/04]
View answerAn estimate of the costs of the elections in Dublin city and county for the forthcoming local and European Parliament elections, and the referendum, is not available, as estimates are not disaggregated in such a way. The Deputy might wish to note that the Central Fund costs for Dublin city and county in 1999 of the European Parliament and local elections, and the referendum about recognising the role of local authorities in the Constitution, amounted to approximately €1.5 million, £1.2 million. This figure is based on the returns of expenditure incurred by the relevant returning officers.
