View answerApart from the recruitment of services officers, recruitment to this Department and the Civil Service is carried out centrally by the Office of the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners. With regard to the recruitment of services officers, when a competition is being held, this Department requests a list from FÁS of interested applicants, including those who have a disability. Applicants are then called for interview and if successful are placed on a panel. Prior to all appointments to the services officer grade, all candidates on the panel must pass a medical examination and be deemed fit to carry out the full duties of the grade by the chief medical officer.
