317 Mr. Kelleher asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself with the treatment offered to a person (details supplied) in Cork University Hospital on 1 May 2004; the reasons for the delay in attending to this person’s injury; the measures the hospital is putting in place to ensure that this does not happen again; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of hospital services at Cork University Hospital is, in the first instance, a matter for the Southern Health Board. The Department of Health and Children has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter and to reply directly to the Deputy.
