165 Mr. S. Power asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of special needs assistants that will be sanctioned for St. Conleth and Mary’s primary school in Newbridge which already has the service of 4.5 special needs assistants of which 1.5 are due to leave in June 2004 and in September 2004, where 5 special needs assistants will be required. My Department has received an application for the transfer of special needs assistant support to the school referred to by the Deputy and to increase the level of support to full time in respect of two pupils who are due to transfer to the school. This application is currently being considered and my officials will make contact with the school shortly in this regard.
