28 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will bring forward measures to reform and standardise the disabled persons housing grant so that it is applied in a fair and transparent way throughout the State; and if it covers 100% of the actual cost of approved works in line with the recommendation of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities. 43 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will extent the disabled persons housing grant to cover 100% of the actual cost of building work; if he will put in place standard qualification criteria to apply throughout the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 28 and 43 together.

The review of the operation of the disabled persons grant scheme will be finalised shortly and I will then be in a position to consider the changes which may be required to ensure that the scheme continues to assist those persons in greatest need of such grant assistance.
