160 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of letters since July 2003 proposing deportation which have been sent to migrant parents who had applied for residency on the basis of parentage of an Irish child prior to February 2003; and the number of this group of persons who have been granted leave to remain; and the number who have been deported. The number of letters that have issued to parents of Irish-born children since 18 July 2003 proposing deportation from the State and who had made a residency application on that basis before 19 February 2003 is 2,196. Of this number, eight have been granted leave to remain and two have been deported.
