164 Ms O’Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he and his Department have any control over a situation where parish boundaries are changed and children who previously had access to their local school are no longer granted entry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Enrolment policy is the responsibility of the boards of management of individual schools. My Department's main responsibility is to ensure that schools in an area can among them cater for all pupils seeking places. This may result in some pupils not obtaining a place in the school of their first choice.
