McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will outline per local authority, the number of councillors who are full-time employees of the local authority in which they are members; the grades of those persons; if they complied with regulations under the Local Government Act 2001 when first becoming members of each authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will detail, per local authority, the persons who are employees of the local authority for which they have been elected to that local authority; the grade of those employees; and if any special protocols or regulations will be required to ensure that senior officials of local authorities who are councillors in same act impartially. I propose to take Questions Nos. 260 and 261 together.

I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 355, 356 and 358 of 1 June 2004. Under the Local Government Act 2001 — section 161 — order 2004, more senior employees of local authorities may not become councillors, therefore, the need for special protocols for such employees, as referred to in Question No. 261, does not arise
