100 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he is aware of recent comments made by the acting chief executive of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland that strong legislation is needed to ensure the high-tech packaging aimed at extending the shelf-life of food products does not pose a health risk to consumers; and if he plans to introduce such legislation. I am aware of the comments of the acting chief executive of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The responsibility for legislation in this area falls within the remit of the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
