View answerThe Residential Institutions Redress Board is independent of my Department and it is not open to me, nor would it be appropriate, to intercede on behalf of an individual applicant. Details of the redress board's application procedures are posted on the board's website at www.rirb.ie.
It is open to a former resident to make an application to the board directly. However, in the event they require assistance in submitting an application he or she can engage the services of a solicitor and the redress board will meet all reasonable costs associated with such an application.
