1077 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the sections of the Maternity Protection (Amendment) Act 2004 relating to paid parental leave for the purposes of ante-natal classes will be brought into effect; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21816/04]
View answerRegulations under the Maternity Protection (Amendment) Act 2004 are being finalised to provide for detailed arrangements regarding the new entitlements to: time off from work, without loss of pay, for the purpose of attending ante-natal classes; breaks from work or a reduction of working hours, without loss of pay, for the purpose of breastfeeding; postponement of the period of maternity leave in the event of hospitalisation of the child.
The Maternity Protection (Amendment) Act 2004 will be commenced in its entirety in the coming weeks as soon as the regulations are finalised.
