1177 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the number of internal audit reports completed within his Department since January 2001; the title of each completed report; the number of audit reports being carried out at the present time; the title of same; and the type of audit reports that need to be carried out to comply with regulations. Information relating to internal audit reports completed and under way in my Department is set out in the following table. The Department's internal audit unit carries out a programme of internal audits in the Department to provide assurance for the Accounting Officer on the existence, adequacy and effectiveness of the Department's internal control systems. This unit also has a responsibility to carry out systems audits of EU co-funded operations managed by the Department as required by Article 10 of European Commission Regulation 438/2001. The unit also carries out certain verification checks on EAGGF expenditure declarations.
