124 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if, in view of a recent decision by a labour relations commissioner concerning the rate of pay for special needs assistants in junior classes in primary schools, a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is entitled to back payments from her Department; the amount they are entitled to for each of the relevant years; and when these payments will be made. My Department has received an application from the person referred to for the payment of arrears in respect of the period that she worked with children in infant classes. The person's application is currently being processed and payment will be made in the payroll issue of 4 November.
