202 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has held discussions with the Department of Defence with regard to European proposals in the area of common security and defence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25228/04]
View answerI very much look forward to discussing various issues of concern to both our Departments with the Minister of Defence, including issues relating to European security and defence policy. I am very conscious of the importance of close co-operation and co-ordination between the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Defence. Officials from my Department and from the Department of Defence are in ongoing contact on a wide range of issues, including in the area of ESDP.
