View answerIrish nationals require a visa to enter Libya. An Irish national resident in Ireland should apply for a visa to the Embassy of the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriaya, The Libyan People's Bureau, 61-62 Ennismore Gardens, London SW71NH. An Irish national resident outside Ireland should apply to the Libyan Embassy accredited to his or her country of residence.

View answerThe application, which is the subject of the Deputy's question, was made on 17 August 2004 and was referred to the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform for decision. Following an initial refusal of the application by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, it was approved on appeal. This decision was forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs visa office on 14 October. The Department of Foreign Affairs visa office is in contact with the applicant with a view to arranging the issuing and collection of the visa.
