Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

221 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to discussions relating to the possible future restoration of Donadea Castle and building in County Kildare; if he has been in touch with the owners in this regard or vice versa; if his attention has further been drawn to the groundswell of local support for such a proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Question No. 259 on 2 June 2004.

Donadea Castle and its associated buildings are an integral part of Donadea Forest Park, which is owned and managed by Coillte Teoranta. Any development proposals in respect of the property would, in the first instance, be a matter for that organisation. My Department has not been approached by Coillte Teoranta regarding the possible restoration of the castle.
