Damien English

Question:

171 Mr. English asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath is still waiting for a medical card; the reason, in an emergency situation such as this, it was not given priority and fast-tracked through the system; if her attention has been drawn to the undue and unnecessary stress this is causing to the person and their family; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the North Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
