Mitchell asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the services which are planned for autistic children who are coming towards 18 years of age and who require an adult service within the ERHA area; and if his attention has been drawn to the serious deficiency in services. Responsibility for the provision of services for persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Eastern Regional Health Authority is a matter, in the first instance, for that authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to her.
