492 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if funding has been sanctioned for replacement of the roof at a school (details supplied) in County Kildare; the amount sanctioned; when it is estimated the repairs will take place; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The roof of the school in question has been surveyed by the health and safety unit of the Office of Public Works which manages the asbestos remediation programme on behalf of my Department.

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that I have authorised the Office of Public Works to carry out the necessary remediation works to the roof in question. I understand that the Office of Public Works is liaising with the school authorities on the matter.
