Since responsibility for the administration of the general medical services scheme, including assessment of medical card applications is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority, the question has been referred by my Department to the chief executive officers of the health boards or authorities for investigation and direct reply to the Deputy.
