Under section 68 of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959, the issuing of permit charges for angling is an operational matter for the relevant regional fisheries board, in this instance the Northern Regional Fisheries Board.

I am advised by the chief executive officer of the Northern Regional Fisheries Board that the maximum permit charge for angling in the region in 2005 will be €33 for an adult and €16 for a juvenile. All the revenue generated by the regional fisheries boards from permit fees are retained by the boards and are re-invested in the ongoing management and development of fisheries in their region.
