203 Mr. Naughten asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the plans there are to provide residential or respite facilities for Alzheimer’s patients in County Roscommon; the number of persons with the disease in the county; the procedure for patients who cannot be catered for at home and are unsuitable for a nursing home; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of health services in County Roscommon is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply direct to him as a matter of urgency.
