I understand the child referred to by the Deputy is due to enrol in the school in September 2005. My Department has not received an application for special needs assistant support for the child. My officials were in contact with the school authorities and I understand that an application for special needs assistant support will be submitted by the school. Any application received will be considered in the context of the child's care needs and in light of the existing level of special needs assistant support in the school. The responsibility for recruiting special needs assistants rests with the school authorities.
