Written answers

The allegations made of illegal fishing, including a possibility of Department officials being implicated, have been formally advised to the Garda Síochána with a request for an investigation. At this time and in the context of the Garda Síochána investigation I do not consider that an internal investigation by the Department would be useful. However, I will continue to keep this under review, to closely monitor the situation and take any further actions that I consider appropriate. The timeframe for the current investigation is a matter for the Garda Síochána.
