114 Mr. Kehoe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the current waiting time for processing both new medical card applications and medical card renewals in County Wexford; the efforts being made to reduce the delays; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [31598/04]
View answerThe Department of Health and Children has been advised by the South Eastern Health Board that it is not aware of significant delays being experienced by applicants for medical cards. Delays may occur in the processing of initial or renewal applications for medical cards if the required documentation has not been supplied by the applicant to allow an assessment. If the Deputy is aware of difficulties being experienced by an individual, I will be happy to receive the details and have them passed to the South Eastern Health Board, which has indicated its willingness to investigate any such case.
