View answerThe Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations 1997 to 2005 and the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations 1997 to 2005 provide for the prohibition on vehicle turns, such as turns to the right or left, on a public road where the appropriate regulatory traffic sign has been provided by the local authority. A driver who fails to comply with these road traffic regulations commits an offence and, on conviction in court, is liable to a fine not exceeding €800. If an offence is a second or subsequent such offence, he or she is liable to a fine not exceeding €1,500, and if the offence is a third or subsequent such offence committed within 12 months he or she is liable to a fine not exceeding €1,500 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, or both.
