View answerGrants totalling €300,000 were paid to Kilkenny County Council in 2003 and 2004 in respect of design, statutory procedures and land acquisition costs for the Graiguenamanagh relief road. In August 2004 my Department sought applications from local authorities for funding for non-national roads in 2005 under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme. The initial selection of projects to be submitted for consideration for funding under this scheme is a matter for local authorities. Kilkenny County Council submitted an application for €750,000 for 2005 in respect of design fees, land costs and the commencement of construction on Graiguenamanagh relief road. I intend to announce non-national road allocations for 2005 on 31 January 2005.
