71 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the discussions she has had with the Department of Social and Family Affairs on the promise to reduce the qualifying period for the back to education allowance to nine months following the changes made by her predecessor; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Officials from my Department are participating in a working group established by the Department of Social and Family Affairs to carry out an expenditure review of the back to education allowance scheme. I am advised that the review will be concluded later this year.
