Questions (153)

Brendan Howlin

Question:

154 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if, in relation to a school (details supplied) in County Cork, her attention has been drawn to the fact that whereas its special language class previously had the regular services of an occupational therapist and a psychologist, these services ceased with effect from Easter 2005 and that high-tech, expensive therapeutic listening equipment installed in the school cannot be used for want of appropriate qualified personnel; if she will take steps to restore the full range of supports for this special language class and to facilitate the full use of available special equipment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the parliamentary affairs division of the executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
