Tom Hayes

Question:

18 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment his views on whether there is evidence to suggest that job losses are being under-reported in those businesses in receipt of grants from State agencies and which may face a clawback of that grant assistance if those job losses are accurately reported; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of grant assistance for individual companies is a matter for the development agency or body concerned and not one in which I have a direct function. However, I am advised by Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and Shannon Development that they are satisfied that there is no evidence to suggest that client companies are under-reporting job losses to avoid a clawback of grant assistance.

In the event of a company failing to meet conditions attached to grant aid the agencies take whatever action is deemed necessary, which may include seeking repayment of grants received or portions thereof.
