The proposed extension project for the school referred to by the Deputy is at an early stage of architectural planning and is one of the 124 schools that I announced in April of 2005 to progress through the architectural planning process. Following an increase in the long-term projected enrolments at the School, my Department's officials visited the School in question in February of this year and completed revised schedules of suggested future use of the existing along with a schedule of residual accommodation to take account of the increase. The school authorities were subsequently requested to forward a revised Stage 1 report (site analysis and building options) to reflect the impact of the revised schedules in the design and to also look at the option of a new build. A revised Stage 1 has recently been received in my Department and when this has been examined my Officials will be in further contact with the School Authorities as to the next steps involved in progressing this project. Progression of the project to tender and construction will be considered in the context of the School Building and Modernisation Programme 2006-2010.
