Under Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 my Department must be notified by a local authority where it appears that a proposed development by the authority would impact on such items as a protected structure, features of ecological or historical interest, a national monument, etc. or have significant effects in relation to nature conservation. My Department has been consulted by Ballina Town Council in this case and is preparing a response.
