401 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport in respect of each Minister of State within his Department the number of staff broken down by grade employed within their private office and their constituency office; the number of staff who are permanent civil servants; the number who are political appointees; the annual cost of each such office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The table provides the information requested by the Deputy in relation to the number of staff broken down by grade employed within the private office and constituency office in respect of the Minister of State. The salary costs are based on current salary scales. The annual cost of the Minister of State's office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses, over the past year (January 2006 to date) is approximately €476,522. This includes travel and subsistence costs for staff and all other associated office costs.
