642 Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of a holiday visa application from a Thai national (details supplied); if he will expedite the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16682/07]
View answerThe application referred to by the Deputy was received in the Visa Office, Dublin on 30th April, 2007. The decision of the Visa Officer to refuse this application was taken on 8th May, 2007. The application was refused because the Visa Officer could not be satisfied, on the basis of the documentation supplied, that a relationship had been in existence between the applicant and the reference prior to the visa application. It is open to the applicant to appeal this decision; however, to date, no appeal has been received. All appeals must be submitted within two months of the initial refusal decision.

View answerThe application referred to by the Deputy was received in the Visa Office, Dublin on 12th January, 2007. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the visa application was approved after appeal on 28th February, 2007.
