View answerEnforcement of road traffic driving offences is a matter for the Garda Síochána. The non-display of L plates on a vehicle being driven by the holder of a provisional driving license is not scheduled as a penalty point offence under the Road Traffic Act 2002.
I have no proposals under consideration for amendment of the 2002 Act to provide that the non-display of L Plates would be brought within the penalty point system.
