372 Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of special needs assistants employed in schools in County Kildare in the years 2002 to 2007; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22285/07]

There are currently 369 Special Need Assistants (whole-time equivalents) employed in schools in Co. Kildare. Three hundred and forty one are serving in Primary schools and twenty eight in Post Primary schools. It is not possible to provide this information for previous years.
